Work-Trade Program

Queer Yiddish Camp currently has the following Work-Trade positions open:

Zoom Tech Assistant

  • Yiddish language course Zoom Tech Assistant:
    • Four (4) work-trade positions available
    • In exchange for 25% off tuition
    • Sundays to Fridays 11:45am – 1:15pm ET

  • Yiddish cultural course Zoom Tech Assistant:
    • Four (4) work-trade positions available
    • In exchange for 25% off tuition
    • Sundays to Fridays 1:30pm – 3:00pm ET

  • Preference is given to those who are available for both Yiddish language course and Yiddish cultural course work-trade positions, for a combined 50% off of tuition.

Dates: Sunday, November 3 to Sunday, November 17, 2024 – Daily, except Saturdays.

Hours: 18-20 hours over the course of two weeks.

  • Yiddish language course Zoom Tech Assistant: Sundays to Fridays, 11:45am – 1:15pm ET.
  • Yiddish cultural course Zoom Tech Assistant: Sundays to Fridays, 1:30pm – 3:00pm ET.

Trade:

  • One Zoom Tech Assistant position (Either a Yiddish language course or a cultural course): 25% off QYC Intensive tuition valued at $200 USD (Equivalent value: $20+USD/hr)
  • Two Zoom Tech Assistant positions (Both a Yiddish language course and a cultural course): 50% off QYC Intensive tuition valued at $400 USD (Equivalent value: $20+/hr USD)

Please note, preference is given to those who are available for both Yiddish language course and Yiddish cultural course work-trade positions, for a combined 50% off of tuition

Zoom Tasks:

  • Alert teacher to hands raised or questions in the chat
  • Start and save recording to the cloud
  • Claim host and make teacher a co-Host
  • Create breakout rooms and help students into them
  • Share slides on screen, audio or video recordings, or other course materials
  • Put links in chat

Expectations

  • Adhere to Queer Yiddish Camp’s Anti-Oppression Commitments; Community Agreements; and Conflict Navigation Practices.
  • Be available to Zoom Tech for every class in the course within your Work-Trade assignment; either all classes within a Yiddish language course; all classes within a Yiddish cultural course; or both, if applicable.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to all Zoom Tech shifts you’ve been assigned (11:45am for a Yiddish language course which start at 12:00pm; 1:30pm for a Yiddish cultural course which start at 1:45pm).
  • Be promptly responsive to communication with Queer Yiddish Camp staff and faculty in the lead up to and during the Intensive.
  • Attend a Work-Trade orientation in September and a staff anti-oppression training in October, at a mutually agreed-upon date and time.

We have streamlined the process this year so that you don’t have to fill out a separate application. Just register for Queer Yiddish Camp and you will see the Work-Trade applications questions inside the form.

Once you register, if you’ve answered the Work-Trade applications questions, we will schedule an interview. We look forward to receiving your responses!
